    With a long and varied background spanning undergraduate and postgraduate medical training in the United Kingdom, Dr Joanne Samuel arrived in Melbourne in 2007 and then moved to Launceston in 2012. Dr Samuel completed the entirety of specialist anaesthetic training in Tasmania and takes great pride in the world-class training opportunities offered within the state. Dr Samuel is also a proud member of the Launceston Group of Specialist Anaesthetists and has a subspecialist interest in Perioperative Medicine.

    Louise is one of the first voices you will hear when you contact Tamar Anaesthesia and Perioperative Services. After a career in senior administrative roles in banking, media and specialist medicine, Louise relished the role of raising two children who are now adults. She joined our team in 2023 and with her kind nature she is focused on ensuring our patients are put at ease and respected. Outside of work Louise enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and volunteering, including supporting Northern Tasmania’s local theatre scene.

    Bringing over a decade of medical expertise to the team, Abbey has joined Tamar Anaesthesia and Perioperative Services as an administration officer. With a diverse background that includes roles as a Practice Manager, CPAP & Sleep Technician, Corporate Online Banking Specialist, and Dental assistant, Abbey’s well-rounded experience makes her a valuable asset to the organisation. When she’s not supporting the day-to-day operations, you can find Abbey spending quality time with her family or exploring her creative passions through art.
